Since 2010, Support Fremont Schools has worked alongside Fremont voters to pass local funding measures for Fremont Unified School District. Below is every measure we’ve campaigned on — what it funded, how it fared at the ballot box, and a link to the original campaign site.

Measure K (2010) · Local schools parcel tax
Passed. A Fremont Unified School District parcel tax approved on November 2, 2010 in Alameda County.
The tax was $53 per parcel, per year, for five years. With 53,871 parcels in the school district at the time of the vote, school officials estimated the tax would generate close to $13 million over the five-year period.

Measure E (2014) · $650M school bond
Passed June 3, 2014 with 61.5% voter approval.
A $650 million general obligation bond to renovate aging FUSD campuses. Measure E funded school renovations and repairs, classroom technology upgrades, safety code compliance, asbestos removal, and replacement of outdated equipment district-wide.

Measure I (2016) · Local education parcel tax
Passed. A Fremont Unified School District parcel tax approved on June 7, 2016 in Alameda County, with 70.28% voter approval.
Measure I replaced the expiring Measure K parcel tax, raising the rate from $53 to $73 per parcel per year for nine years. With a required two-thirds threshold, it passed with 27,145 yes votes (70.28%) to 11,477 no votes (29.72%). The tax was designed to generate approximately $3.9 million per year for the district, which served 33,887 students across 48 schools.

Measure L (2020) · $296/parcel education parcel tax
Did not pass. A majority of Fremont voters supported Measure L on March 3, 2020, but parcel taxes in California require a two-thirds supermajority to pass.
Measure L would have raised approximately $18.3 million per year for FUSD by levying a $296 annual tax per parcel. The measure was designed to restore budget cuts, attract and retain highly qualified teachers, expand STEAM programs, and protect instruction in core subjects.

Measure M (2024) · $919M school bond
Passed November 5, 2024 with over 62% voter approval.
A $919 million general obligation bond to modernize FUSD’s aging campuses. Measure M funds upgrades to classroom equipment and technology, roof replacements, safety improvements, and the conversion of portable classrooms to permanent facilities district-wide. Every dollar stays in Fremont and is overseen by an independent citizen bond oversight committee.
